Races
If you've never experienced a country race meet you need to give it a try. If you have experienced one, you must go to one in the Longreach Region. The races are usually on a Saturday and the atmosphere at the racecourse and the pub afterward are so much fun. For many Longreachians it is a chance to get dressed up and socialise with friends. Do it how the locals do it. Pack some nice garments, a fascinator or hat and spend a day immersing yourself in Outback culture. Perhaps you'll even bet on a horse and win some cash. Flyers Ball
The Longreach Flyers Ball is a charity event hosted annually to raise funds for the RFDS. The 2022 Flyers Ball will take place on the 8th of October. Dance the night away and then come home to your comfortable oasis at Kangaroo Paw Cottage. For updates and ticket sales follow their Facebook page:

The Outback Food Wine and Music Festival
The title says it all. The Outback Food Wine and Music Festival is always a hit with the locals. 2021s theme was the roaring 20's and the theme for 2022 has yet to be released. The festival runs from the 9th-11th of September, 2022. Book your accommodation and book your event tickets before they sell out.
